Property tax, food, transit and ICBC rates are just a few of the things that will empty out your wallet this year. Hello 2019 — a year that’s going to be quite more expensive in many aspect in your life. Property tax: there are two cities that would like to hike their property tax. In The City of Burnaby, you will see an increase of 2.5% to 2.7% in residential property taxes. Also, The city of Vancouver property tax are set to jump 5% in 2019. Food: The average prices of food you are use to will rise to more than 3%, and vegetarian dishes will be going up the most. Only seafood and meat will fall by about 2%. 2019 will be a good year to fill up on some juicy meat and delicious seafood...Traffic Cost: TransLink fares will have increase of 5 to 10 cents as part of the increases that were announced in the mayors council’s 10-year-Vision for Regional Transportation in the year 2016. Ferry fares: No change – BC Ferries have announced there shall be no fare increases in the years 2019 and 2020. Transit: Gasoline: it will depend on the Market. Car Insurance: On December 14, 2018, ICBC had submitted an application to the BCUC for a Basic rate increase of 6.3 percent. Recently, the BCUC approved their request on an interim basis for all new and renewal policies effective April 1, 2019. This means there will be an average increase of around $60 a year. MSP: Medical Services Plan premiums will remain no change In 2020, the monthly premiums will be eliminated.Natural gas and Electricity: As of January 1, 2019, the majority of natural gas customers will see an overall increase to their natural gas bill, meanwhile, FortisBC will raise natural gas rates by about $68 for the average customer in 2019.
